Jacketed hoses are generally used when specific minimum temperature are needed to convey certain viscous substances or when ordinary insulation becomes insufficient for certain application. This consist of two tubes. one inside the other, with various difference in cross—section.

Generally, the inner tube carries the medium, and the other one carries a heating or cooling agent, sometimes it is the other way around. In other case the external tube is used as a safety measure.

Occasionally, such traced piping has to be flexible. It is for such applications that we supply our S.S. Jacketed Hose.

As a HEATABLE ELEMENT the hose is mainly used in the chemical pharmaceutical, oil and civil engineering machinery industries to convey viscous or temperatures-sensitive media, such as

Bitumen
Choclate
Heavy Fuel Oil
Phthalic acid
Explosive (TNT)
Sulphur
Organic liquified materials
Chlorophenol
Synthetic resin
Phenol
Polyester
Mercury
Tar
Dimethylterephtalate [DMT]
Fats
Naphthol
Naphthalene
Fatty acids
Paraffin
Waxes & Others
Thermosetting plastics

The heating agents used are hot water, steam, heat transfer oils or other heat transfer agents; for cooling, water is the most usual agent.

MATERIAL & DESIGN

For the internal hose and the jacketed hose STEELOFLEX stainless steel corrugated hoses are used, in each case with stainless steel braiding. The internal and jacketed hose are joined with pressure—tight fit.

END CONNECTIONS

One weId—neck flange or union is provided at each hose end of the tracer conduit, the two connections being offset by 180° in relation to one another.
